What's the check-in and check-out time?

Check-in for the campsite is between 13.00hrs and 20.00hrs, check-out is before 12.00hrs.
Check-in for the lodge rooms and cottages is between 15.00hrs and 20.00hrs, check-out is before 10.00hrs.
NOTE: arrivals after 20.00hrs are NOT possible unless requested in advance and will incur an extra fee.

Are you open all year round?

Hungry Hill Lodge and Campsite is open from 01 March till 01 December.

Are there shops, restaurants, pubs nearby?

Accepted Answer

Our food truck "The Tastemaker" is open from May till September (weekends only).
RoCo Coffee 'n' Cream is open during the summer months (weekends only) and located next to our food truck on the campsite. They serve coffee, tea, ice cream & delicious cakes and treats.
The Pass Grocery & Deli (formerly known as Pegs Shop) is 100m away from our campsite and they stock daily fresh produce.
The next supermarket is SuperValu in Castletownbere which is 15km away.
Restaurants and pubs can be found in either Glengarriff or Castletownbere, both approximately a 20 minutes' car drive from our campsite.

Which facilities do you offer on the campsite?

We offer toilet and shower facilities as well as a campers' kitchen for washing up. 
In the campers' kitchen you will find a fridge, freezer, kettle and microwave with a 2-ring electrical hob, which you can use. 
We also offer laundry facilities (washing machine and dryer) against payment.
There is a separate elsan point and an R.V. service area for water and waste drop.
We have a total of 32 mains hook up points, several water points and offer free WiFi.

What kind of connection do I need for electric hook-up?

Accepted Answer

The hook up cable (or extension lead) is the main cable you'll need to get power to your camping unit. You must have one of these to use the campsite's power supply. The mains cable will have a 3-pin electric hookup male end socket to plug into the power bollard. See picture below.

Question 6

Do all pitches have electricity?

Accepted Answer

Yes, all pitches have electric hook-up (8 amp) which is free of charge.

Is your holiday park child friendly?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we have a small playground and plenty of grass area for children to play on.
We don't allow children using scooters on the campsite because the campsite is NOT suitable for it.

Is WiFi available?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we offer free WiFi throughout the holiday park.

Are bedlinen and towels provided?

Accepted Answer

Yes, bedlinen and 1 towel per person is provided free of charge during your stay in one of our rooms or cottages.

Do I need to book in advance?

Accepted Answer

Yes, during high season (June, July and August) and public holidays we recommend to book well in advance to avoid disappointment. Off season it's not necessary to pre-book a pitch.

Is there a beach nearby?

Accepted Answer

Yes, there are several pebbled beaches nearby. The nearest one would be at the kayak and sailing centre just 2km from the campsite. Alternatively, the Adrigole river and harbour are right in front of the campsite and it's safe to swim here during high tide.

What method of payment do you accept?

Accepted Answer

We accept cash and cards at Hungry Hill Lodge and Campsite. However, in off season (October till May) we don't have a card machine available. So, if you haven't booked in advance, please make sure you have cash with you when paying at check-in.

Are barbecues allowed?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but all barbecues must be gas or charcoal and free standing on legs.
Disposable BBQ's must not be used on grass or park benches and can only be used if placed on stands that are available from reception against € 10,- security deposit. Stands that are provided with a disposable BBQ are NOT acceptable.
Any damage to grass or park benches will incur a penalty of € 50,- for repair.

Are fire pits / open fires allowed?

All fire pits must be a minimum of 0,5 metre off the ground and have a substantial base to prevent ashes falling onto the grass. Alternatively, you are free to use our centrally located campfire pit to make a campfire.
Any damage to grass or park benches will incur a penalty of € 50,- for repair.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, dogs are allowed on our campsite (max. 2 per booking). Dogs MUST be kept on a short lead at all times, no exceptions! Dog waste must be picked up and disposed of in the green bins.
Dogs are also permitted inside our stone cottage, but this should be mentioned at time of booking.
Dogs are NOT allowed in our lodge rooms, log cabin and Hungry Hill Pod.

Are tokens needed for the showers?

Accepted Answer

No, tokens are not needed. Hot showers are free of charge.

Do you offer seasonal pitches?

Accepted Answer

No, we don't have seasonal pitches available.

Is there local transportation nearby?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we have a bus stop in front of the campsite and on the other side of the road it's located at the The Pass Grocery & Deli, 100 metres away. Bus Éireann Route 236 (Cork - Dunmanway - Bantry - Glengarriff - Castletownbere v.v.) stops here. You can download the timetable here.

Do you have good wheelchair access and facilities for disabled?

Accepted Answer

Although our campsite offers good wheelchair access, our facilities aren't wheelchair friendly. It's something we hope to improve in the near future.

Question 21

Can I charge my electric vehicle?

Accepted Answer

Charging of electric vehicles is only allowed at the designated parking area (Zappi charger against payment). It is not allowed to use our electric hook-ups for EV charging as these hook-ups are not suitable.
